This bit of advice is very straight forward and obvious – so it won’t be a lengthy advice column. Sit tight for one of those in the future.
Listen To Your Body.
It sounds simple enough, but how often to do we this? As a society, we run off of an average of 5 hours of sleep and caffeine to get us through the day. Not I personally, because I dislike a lot of caffeine, but definitely the 5 hours of sleep.
Granted, when I work out, I sleep better, but on a regular basis — I have really bad insomnia. Sleep is hard to come by. And I’m not one of those people who can nap either (-cries forever-)
My brother is an on the go guy and he always has been. He is ALWAYS doing something, and I’m not exaggerating. And because of this, he burns himself out. He can’t nap either. The other night he was complaining about being tired and we told him to just go to sleep when he got home.
Did he? No, of course not. But you know what happens? He eventually gets to the point where he is SO exhausted that he will crash and sleep for 12 hours.
Listen to your body! Sleep when you are tired. Eat when you’re hungry. Stop eating when you’re full. If you have allergies, stay away from perfume. If you have a headache, take it easy. If something hurts – get it checked out.
If you ignore your body, you’re only hurting yourself.
I’ve been on a nice exercise regime but guess what? Today, I was tired and headachy, and despite having it on my calendar to work out – I DIDN’T. Because my body said no. And I’ll thank myself tomorrow when I end up doing it double time!
